LightSpeed Grants
Please Note: Grant application deadlines for 2013/2014 are September 13 and December 13.
Since 2007, the Light Speed Grant Program has provided matching funds to rural Minnesota communities to support project implementation of new broadband applications from institutions (schools, health care facilities, etc.) to the home or between institutions with a priority on applications that reach home users.
Goals
- Spur the implementation of broadband intensive applications by community institutions that will increase the community’s competitiveness and/or improve the community’s quality of life.
- Demonstrate the value of robust ultra-high speed networks.
- Help local institutions develop strategies to overcome barriers to application deployment, providing a model for similar institutions within the community and around the state of Minnesota.
